Ste Rimmer Memorial Singles Report 2024
held at Hoole Village Hall Bowling Club on Saturday 15th June
Congratulations to Colin Moore (London Sphnynx) on being crowned as the Ste Rimmer Memorial League Singles champion for the third year running, by beating David Grundy (Tarleton) 21-13 in a well contested final at Hoole Village Hall. In the first 13 ends of the final, Colin took a commanding lead of 14-3 playing exceptionally well on his favoured 3/4 length marks. However, David fought back to 13-17 in the next 9 ends using is superior green knowledge but Colin then scored 4 chalks in the next two ends to ensure victory 21-13. Earlier in the day, Colin looked like he was going out in the semi-final when he trailed Steve Howard 18-9 who was playing a round peg mark down one edge of the green extremely well until he sent the block off the green. From this position, Colin made a remarkable comeback & ran out to win 21-18 playing his favoured 3/4 length mark. Losing Semi-Finalists were Mike Fagan (Scarisbrick NSC) & Steve Howard (Mere Brow). At the end of the event, Anne Brogden (President) presented the trophy & prizemoney to all prizewinners after the secretary had thanked all the competitors for taking part & Hoole Village Hall BC members for helping run the event on the day as well as thanking the greenkeeper for producing an excellent green.
