Ste Rimmer Memorial Singles Report 2023
held at Holmeswood Bowling Club on Saturday 16th September
Congratulations to Colin Moore (London Sphnynx) on being crowned as the Ste Rimmer Memorial League Singles champion for the second year running, by beating Brian Coleman (Zetland) 21-15 in a well contested final at Holmeswood BC. In the first 13 ends of the final, it was equally contested with the ends shared & the score stood at 8 across until Colin got on this favourite across the green 25yd mark which he played exceptionally well & scored 11 chalks to 1 in the next 11 ends to put him on the brink of victory at 19-9. However, Brian got in on the next end & clawed his way back into the game playing the corners brilliantly scoring 6 chalks in the next 4 ends until he missed his mark & put the jack in the wrong position leaving Colin with plenty of room to score 1 & then to close out the game at the next end with a 21-15 victory after 30 ends. Earlier both players qualfied for the final by being undefeated in their 3 group games. Stephen Ball (President) presented the trophy & prizemoney to all prizewinners after the secretary had thanked all the competitors for taking part & Holmeswood BC members for helping run the event on the day.
