Congratulations to Dave Fenney & Dan Finch (Banks St Stephens) on winning the 35th running of the League Pairs Competition, thrashing their team mates Chris Thompson & Roy Webster 21-9 in the final at Holmeswood. In the final, the match was of a very high standard as Dan Finch lead exceptionally well in the corners which their opponents were unable to match. However, in the earlier rounds Chris & Roy dominated their matches with wins of 21-11 in the Last 8 & 21-05 in the Semi-finals & looked like the likely favourites to take the title as Dave & Danny only just prevailed in their earlier rounds with wins of 21-20 in the last 8, when they run out from 16-20 down against Carl Gregson & Andy Howie, whilst in their semi-final they were relieved to win 21-18 after scoring 3 at the last end after a determined fight back from the Roddans from 13-18 down. Stephen Ball (President) presented the trophy & prizemoney after Keith Robinson (League Secretary) had made a speech remembering Peter Brooks, who the competition is named after, who was a well respected member of the league for many years being a key player in the successful Mere Brow A team in the 90s & 2000s by winning the 1st Division Merit on 5 occasions as well as winning the League's President's Day in 2005. He then went on to thank everyone who was involved in running another successful competition.
