The League's Qualifiers for the 2008 Ormskirk Advertiser Trophy will be Bill Rose (Current Holder), Jimmy Alty (2008 President's Day winner), Wayne Ditchfield (2008 Ste.Rimmer Memorial Singles Shield winner) & Adrian Adams (2008 1st Division Merit winner). Unfortunately, I have just found out that this year's event has been cancelled due to a lack of support & sponsorship from the Ormskirk Advertiser.

Congratulations to Wayne Ditchfield (New Longton) who recently won the North Lancs & Fylde County Senior Merit, at 17 years of age the youngest player ever to win this title. He beat Hugh Hornby 21-19 in the final at Penwortham Sports & Social Club. He now qualifies to represent North Lancs & Fylde in both the Champion of Champions at the Waterloo & the BCGBA All-England Senior Championship at the Pilkington Recreation Ground, Doncaster on Saturday 26th July.

Wayne, reached the second round of the BCGBA All-England Senior Championship, losing 10-21 to Malcolm Tonge (South Yorkshire) who went on to reach the semi-final. In the first round, he beat Paul Sigsworth (Yorkshire) 21-20.
